Nedbank Cup Last 32 debutants TS Sporting have announced they have parted ways with coach McDonald Makhubedu with immediate effect. Makhubedu will depart the club along with his assistant coach Abram Mongoya, leaving the Mpumalanga side in a race against time to get a new man in charge before their Nedbank Cup first round clash with Ajax Cape Town. TS Sporting have found the going tough in the GladAfrica Championship this season and Makhubedu has paid the price for a lack of wins. “TS Sporting Football Club has parted ways with coach McDonald Makhubedu and his   assistant Abram Mongoya with immediate effect following a run of performances that saw the club win four, draw five and lose six of their last 15 games,” Sporting said.

“We thank both for their services and wish them well in their next endeavor. The team will make announcements soon about the way forward.”

Sporting are second bottom in the GladAfrica Championship and have just a single point from their last four games. They defeated 2018 Nedbank Cup winners Free State Stars to reach the Last 32 for the first time, claiming the preliminary tie 2-1 with Thubelihle Magubane and Noko Malekana grabbing the goals. It means a debut at this stage of the competition against fellow second-tier club Ajax, who they will ironically meet away on Wednesday in what will be a dress rehearsal for both sides ahead of their cup clash. Ajax have won the last two meetings between the clubs, including a 3-2 away success in October, but TS Sporting claimed victory in their home league game last season, winning 1-0.
