Nedbank Cup champions TS Galaxy have bolstered their squad with the signing of playmaker Charles Baloyi, once regarded as a huge rising talent in South African football. Baloyi could be a key asset when Galaxy start the defence of their Nedbank Cup title away at Chippa United, having had previous experience in the Premier League while at Platinum Stars. Baloyi was just 17 when he made his debut for the now defunct North West club, coming off the bench in a 1-1 draw with Free State Stars.

He played his first Nedbank Cup clash in 2018, part of a losing effort against Baroka FC, but before that had featured in the CAF Confederation Cup will still a teenager. He moved to Polokwane City at the start of the 2018/19 season, but has found game-time hard to come by there with a number of top players in his position. Baloyi hails from the North West town of Kanana near Orkney and had been with Platinum Stars since the age of 13, coming through the ranks at a club that had produced some top stars under the watchful eye of former coaches Cavin Johnson and Allen Freese.

He is also a South Africa Under-17 international and will be desperate to reignite his career with The Rockets, who captured the imagination of South Africa in 2019 when they became the first second-tier side to lift the Nedbank Cup trophy.
