Self-service terminals (SSTs) are devices that operate on a touch-screen basis and are available to Nedbank, Old Mutual Bank and Pick ‘n Pay Go Banking account holders. You would be required to have a Profile linked to your account to transact on the SST, as functionality is restricted for non-profile users.
In order to make a once-off payment to SARS the following steps should be followed:
STEP 1: INSERT CARD
The client should insert their card into the SST
STEP 2: ENTER PIN
The user should enter their card pin, using the device pin pad. The pin will automatically be accepted and verified at host
STEP 3: SELECT ACCOUNT PAYMENTS
From the List of Options screen, select the Account Payments option.
STEP 4: SELECT PAYMENT TYPE
Select the Beneficiary List option
STEP 5: SELECT THE SOURCE (FROM) ACCOUNT
This screen allows the user to select the account you want to pay from. Restricted accounts will be displayed in red.
STEP 6: SEARCH FOR BENEFICIARY
Enter the first few letters of the beneficiary name (if more letters are entered, it makes the search simpler). eg. SARS.
STEP 7: SELECT A BENEFICIARY FROM THE SEARCH RESULTS SCREEN
This screen displays the alphabetic search results of the letter selected for the Bank Approved Beneficiary. Select the SARS type you want to make a payment to.
STEP 8: ENTER ACCOUNT DESCRIPTION
This screen enables the user to enter a description that will be displayed on their statement for reference purposes.
STEP 9: ENTER BENEFICIARY DESCRIPTION
This screen enables the user to enter an account number or reference that will be displayed on the beneficiary’s statement.
Note: SARS requires that the reference be entered as follows:
The SARS tax number consists of a 19 digit reference number which is made up of:
o The first 10 digits relate to your tax reference number.
o The 11th digit refers to the tax type.
o The last 8 digits refer to the period for which payment is being made.
STEP 10: ENTER AMOUNT
Enter the payment amount.
STEP 11: CONFIRM DETAILS
The Confirmation screen displays all the payment details.
You may select to cancel the transaction by selecting the “cancel” button or may change some of the information by selecting the “Back” button.
If all the details entered are correct, the SST automatically prints a Payment Completed receipt.
