Because we believe that 'EVERYONE CARES FOR SOMETHING', the Local Heroes programme , which is now in its third year, continues to help our clients contribute to community projects that are close to their hearts!

At Nedbank we understand the love and compassion you have for your community. This is why we started our Local Heroes initiative. To date we’ve donated R10,000 each to over 200 charities. As a Nedbank client you too have the opportunity to give back to your community through the Local Heroes initiative. Simply tell us about the charity that you are actively involved in and if your worthy cause is selected, we will give you a cheque of R10 000 to present to your charity. Together we can make a difference.

Previous Nedbank local heroes included environmentalists, those who are involved in helping children, the homeless and the aged and those involved in projects to uplift the community through education, sports and the arts.

Nedbank's internal Local Heroes programme has been running successfully since 2002 and bears testimony to the positive impact of the Local Heroes Programme and Nedbank's culture of caring beyond banking. Since inception the programme, together with the Nedbank Foundation, has donated in excess of R2 million to non-profit organisations.

Nedbank Local Heroes is a call to action for all South Africans to make a difference in their communities, now made even easier with the support of Nedbank. All South Africans who have been involved in any charity for at least three months are invited to participate. Together- we can 'Make Things Happen!'.
